Benefits of Custom Drapes

In the hands of a skilled craftsperson, custom drapes can transform your living space into a work of art — but with practical advantages, including:

  1. A perfect fit: Which looks better: a tailored suit or a suit off the rack? Custom drapes will fit your windows exactly. We’ll send someone to your home to get the dimensions right.
  2. Unlimited options: Combine any fabric, color, and style for a stunning, unique window treatment.
  3. Quality construction: Our skilled workers use the best materials and construction techniques. Your drapes will last for years to come.
  4. UV protection: Many fabrics offer UV protection against sun damage to furniture and flooring.
  5. More privacy and light control: Custom drapes can block sunlight and prying eyes. This is especially valuable in rooms where you watch TV, sleep, or sit at a computer.
  6. Improved energy efficiency: Heavy drapes insulate better than blinds and other window coverings, saving money on energy bills.

More Than Curtains: Your Options (to list a few)

Pleated & Pinch Pleat Drapes

Pleats add a touch of formal elegance.

The number of pleats and the type of fabric in your curtain design can create very different impressions.

For example, if you want a softer, more romantic look, you might choose drapes with fewer pleats and a lighter fabric.

Or, if you want a clean, modern presentation, go with more pleats and heavier fabric.

Pinch pleat drapes have fabric folds gathered at the top (pinched) and held in place by hooks, pins, or stitches. In other respects, they’re identical to standard pleated drapes.

Ripplefold Drapes

Ripplefold drapes are made from one big sheer piece of fabric, folded and pleated. The design allows for a clean, modern look and an elegant sense of movement.

Sheer Drapes

The airy fabric of sheer drapes filters natural light and gives you a view of the outdoors. Fabric weight and type determine the level of privacy and light filtration you achieve.

Sheer drapes are ideal for layered window treatments.

Cafe Curtains

These cover only the lower part of the window, allowing light to enter while giving you privacy. They’re often installed in kitchens and bathrooms.

Valances

Valances cover only the uppermost part of a window. Styles include scalloped, ruffled, and straight, among others.

Valances can be made of almost any type of fabric, from sheer to heavy. They’re usually hung with hooks or clips for easy removal during cleaning. Often, they’re combined with other window treatments like curtains and blinds.

Drapery Hardware

  • Rods: The type of rod you choose will depend on the style of your drapes and the look you want to achieve.
  • Finials: Decorative details that attach to the ends of drapery rods.
  • Tiebacks & Holdbacks: These can be made from fabric, rope, tassels, beads, or metal. They hold drapes back from the window, letting in light and opening the view.
  • Curtain Hooks & Rings: Curtain rings fit over the rod and attach to the drape fabric. Different sizes accommodate various rod diameters.

Drapery Care

You can clean most drapes at home with a vacuum cleaner or mild soap and water. Heavier drapes may require professional cleaning.

Store drapes in a cool, dry, dark place when not in use to prevent fading and other damage caused by sunlight exposure.
